Pioneered by EnSys Energy, global downstream modeling pushes back the boundaries of what is possible, enabling EnSys to analyze the complexities of the global refining sector in one system, the unique WORLD model.

WORLD is an advanced modeling system which captures and simulates the global and interlinked nature of today’s and tomorrow’s downstream oil industry. The model provides projections of global refining developments, crude and product flows, pricing and refining margins. It is a highly flexible system, with the ability to model short, medium, and long-term forecasts, to adjust to the level of detail desired per region and to focus on specific aspects of the model such as marine fuels, condensates or FCC modes.

The WORLD model’s core functionality is simulating the interactions between refining, supply, demand transport and regulation: this allows EnSys to evaluate a wide array of scenarios.

• WORLD is an advanced modeling system which captures and simulates the global and interlinked nature of the modern downstream oil industry, analyzing the world in 22 regions
• The model provides projections of global refining developments, crude and product flows, pricing and refining margins, and refinery utilization
• It is a highly flexible system, with the ability to model short, medium, and long-term forecasts and adjust to the level of detail desired per region
• WORLD marries together top-down oil price demand and supply information (EIA, IEA, OPEC or custom inputs) with EnSys’ own bottom up detail on refining, products, and transportation
• The core of the WORLD Model is the RTEC Refinery Technology module used to accurately simulate the actions of the global refining industry given the array of inputs

The WORLD Model forms the basis of many EnSys Energy consulting assignments. Broad interest in the WORLD model and its offerings have lead to the upcoming EnSys Energy Refining Strategic Parameters series of reports. These reports will make data from the WORLD model as well as EnSys analysis available to a broader audience.
