EnSys undertook detailed research regarding the then threatened refinery closures on the U.S. East Coast and also in the Caribbean and Europe. We used our knowledge and expertise to examine and elaborate the reasons why these refineries were actually or potentially closing, including international competition and a focus on gasoline production. When the report was released it led to top level meetings to advise senior Obama Administration officials on the outlook and potential policy implications.
