Client: Major Oil Company
Year: 2009
A major oil company, concerned about the post-recession outlook for US refining, especially if climate regulations should be enacted, asked EnSys to follow up its recent Waxman-Markey assessment with a review of the prospects for the company’s US refineries. To undertake the analysis, EnSys modifiedthe WORLD Model’s US refining configuration to simulate each of the client’s refineries operating within the national and global competitive context and then examined a range of scenarios through 2030. These encompassed Reference, High Oil Price and Low Oil Price outlooks together with different assumptions regarding absence or presence of climate regime. The results of the analysis helped the client to determine prospective economics and value for its refineries.
